2009 Annual Dinner over

The annual dinner took place with 23 ex stoic and IC Radio members attending.

It was a great turn out, so thanks to everyone who made it. We started in the Hoop and Toy for a quick half. Then we trundled down to the Rembrandt where I was disappointed to not see our name up on the Conferences notice board, considering the struggle it had been to make the booking. As usual we could barely squeeze into the restuarant, but luckily (or maybe becuase of the noise we were making) it went down from 3 other tables to zero later. After the 3 course dinner there were a few words from myself, but the much anticipated “humorous moment” traditionally supplied by Richard Fincher did not happen. Still there’s always next year.

Andy Clark brought along a microscopic flea chariot, made in his own workshop. Whether or not this will be included in the upcoming Terminator 3 remake is not known. Something sure to be in it though was the “Hemorrhoids” ball from Tim Harcourt is bound to be.

If you didn’t make it this year, please put the date in your diary for 2010 – second Saturday in January – although it’s been suggested we make it nearer New Year – we’ll see if there’s much interest in changing the date.

Image Mashup

I have no idea what a ‘mashup’ really means but it sounds appropriate for this disorganised, random collection of photos of stoic people I’ve collected over the years.

STOIC Get Together

Looks like most people wanted to meet up in the environs of IC, according to the recent poll, and this ties in quite nicely with some news of the new studio at STOIC. The new bodgers at STOIC have invited us round to see the brand new studios in the basement of Beit Quod, so I suggest we combine this studio tour with a bit of eating and drinking, and dare I say it boogiiing at the Union disco ( maybe just for those who can still see their feet!).
I don’t have an exact date from the STOIC guys, because they are still fixing up the studio and want it to be finished before we come, but they said it would be before the end of term.
So I hope this suits most people, and i look forward to seeing you all soon. Rex
