STOIC nearly finished!

The new STOIC studio is nearly complete! Freshers Fair is on Tuesday, and they’re hoping to have all wiring done by then. The new complex is based around a gorgeous 32×32 matrix and loads and loads of loverly Krone…. If anyone has a spare genlockable camera to lend them, they’re looking for a big impact on Tuesday. I’ve just loaned them a DXC3000 and some long cables. Anyone else feeling generous?

Crotaz Found!

Update 13 Sept 02: Bryan has found himself (see comment below) and now resides at www.inspirationmatters.com Attempts to contact the infamous pStoic bodger Bryan Crotaz have come to a full stop at AV Broadband. The pStoic blood hounds successfully tracked Bryan through Concept Broadcast to I-Vision Systems stepping over the High Court writs as they went. A contact at AV Broadband was reported as saying …Byran left without any bitchyness… So if anyone know the whereabouts of Mr B Crotaz then please let us know asap so we can set the blood hounds on him.

[Crotaz was spotted moving into a swanky new office in Southwark early last month.

Your contact at AVB must be mistaken… much bitchyness, but from boss not Bryan!]

Stoic Moves Online

Hey all! Stoic has just moved into the Twenty-First Century! Well, kind of. Some people were impressed. Anyway, we’ve set up a postboard to brainstorm programmes, technical stuff, and general chat. All are welcome to join and post, especially alumni who want to stick their oar in. And it’s a good way to keep up-to-date with stoic happenings in addition to stoic-talk. Let’s make a film

Saved for future bodgers of STOIC.  These lovely old things were about to by chucked into the nearest skip, but I felt they deserved to be kept for purely nostalgic reasons. Allegedly the Rover still works fine (it’s even got a tape in it) but the two cameras, the Panasonic F10 and the F15 are currently non-working. The F10 died a long time ago, but the F15 may well be operable.
However the lead between the camera and the Rover is missing so we may never find out.Maybe we can make a trophy out of the bits to be given each year at the annual dinner? Your comments appreciated as ever… I’ll bring some of these bits along to the next PSTOIC get to gether and maybe some keen bodger will volunteer to get them running again.

There’s still the CEL framestores and the old edit suite U-matics (heads completely gone). Also available is a fairly large (but will fit in the Union lift) 2-series Umatic playout system.
Matt Balchin get over there and rescue it!! Finally two very large analogue vision mixers are awaiting two strong lads or lasses to carry them away. I coughed up a bullseye for the cameras and umatic – hopefully they’ll spend it on beer….although the technical budget was briefly mentioned..
