This years annual drinks and dinner took place on 15th January 2011 at the Hoop and Toy and Rembrandt Hotel respectively.

Whilst lacking in hydrogen powered cars, the theme of ‘bring something magical’ was amply fulfilled by Andy’s washer trick.

We also met up with 4 current STOIC members including  James (station manager) and Rory (asst. station manager). We wish them well in making lots of programmes this year and look forward to seeing their efforts at www.stoictv.com

  • 7pm: drink at Hoop & Toy, South Kensington
  • 8pm: dinner at The Rembrandt Hotel

Please let Rex know if you can make it, should be about £20/head for dinner excluding drinks.

Last years theme was “bring something amazing” – This year we will have “Bring something Magical”

The annual dinner is open to all current and ex-STOIC members so if you’ve never been before, we’d love to meet you.

Ex-STOIC bodger Jez obviously keeps his ear to the ground has he discovered that STOIC was relaunching today, after almost of a year without a broadcast. The programme, which featured Carol Voderman, was webcast at the new STOIC website. In traditional bodger fashion, the ‘live’ show which was supposed to go out at 1pm, actually started at about 2.30 and I’m not sure it was live. Still the new STOIC team did a great job with a well paced and interesting show.

We look forward to seeing more shows soon!

Hydrogen generator and fuel cell car

The pSTOIC annual dinner took place last Saturday 16th January and I have to say it was one of the best yet. In a minor way, we’d said there was a theme of “bring something interesting”, but I doubt anyone was expecting a hydrogen fuel cell car! Doug surprised everyone (including the restuarant manager – see photo) by bringing two projects along.

Other items included  a super-bright LED matrix from Doug, some natural rubber from Malaysia, a hard drive (post smelt), a mystery photo (Colossus computer), and a vicious looking clamp.

No fleas this year, the flea director has been busy in his shed on other projects recently.

The post-meet-up mailing list has suggested “bring something baffling” for next year.

The 2009 Dinner

I am pleased to announce that the 2009 annual dinner will once again be held at the Rembrandt, Knightsbridge on Saturday 16th January 2010. There will be a pre-dinner gathering in the Hoop & Toy in South Kensington at 7:30pm, with the meal commencing at 8:30pm. If you would like to attend, please contact me  to confirm your place and the places of anyone you would like to bring along. The cost is approx £20 per head plus drinks.

I really *really* do need to know the numbers, so please drop me an email if you can make it.
