Alan and I were at meeting held in Imperial College on Friday so in between our lunch time pint at the Union bar and our 5 o’clock pint at the Union bar we decided to have a wander around the Union building.
There was no-one in at STOIC (students don’t go back ’til October), but we were a bit worried to see these lovely monitors out in the corridor.
Hopefully they’re not going to be chucked, but if anyone wants to give them a good home, I suggest a quick contact with STOIC as soon as term starts.
They’re 2 profeel Sonys and a couple of basterd heavy Barcos. I remember a massive operation to hoist these to the scaff in the studio.
I wonder how they got them down?
If you haven’t visited the union building for a while, you might be interested to know that:
I was sad to find the STOIC mug wasn’t around at the union bar, apparently off for engraving… Either that or (more likely) the bar staff couldn’t be arsed to find it for a semi-pissed old fart…

I’d been given the Rover by some kinds chaps at STOIC when they were clearing out the studios some years back. However when I moved house 2 years ago it went missing.
I bumped into the new owner of my old place and he mentioned he’d found an extremely old and heavy video recorder. I immediately knew it must be the rover, or Sony VO-600PS to give it’s proper name.
Sadly it’s missing a bit of fascia on the top, but apart from that appears in “as new” condition… There’s even a tape inside. Wonder what’s on it…

The new Star Trek film, “Star Trek” goes on general release on 8th May. The new movie charts the early days of the starship Enterprise, with original Spock Leonard Nimoy in a cameo role.
Some years ago William Shatner was asked how he responds to those eager types who, on a daily basis, for more than four decades, have persisted in addressing him as “Captain Kirk”. With presence of mind, he said. “But usually, it’s, ‘Go f*** off.’ ”
We look forward to getting a first review from keen PSTOIC trekkies.
